About the Fragrance
Part of Diptyque’s Le Grand Tour collection, Kyoto draws on the art of ikebana — Japanese floral arrangement, first codified in the city
it’s named for. The composition is built on three symbolic pillars: rose for the presence of man, a beetroot-and-vetiver duo for the earth,
and incense for the sky. The result is a woody-floral fragrance with the quiet, deliberate grace of a temple garden.
Kyoto opens on a soft trail of incense and vetiver, moves into an airy, Turkish rose heart, and settles into an earthy, unexpected beetroot
base that grounds the whole scent. Meditative and refined, it’s a fragrance that rewards a slower read — floral and vegetal by turns,
evoking a Kyoto garden more than a bouquet. The bottle itself is wrapped in the maison’s signature Sarayi-print fabric, in keeping with
Japanese furoshiki tradition.
