First created in 1983, L’Ombre dans l’Eau is one of Diptyque’s original floral-fruity fragrances, and one of its most quietly beloved. The
name translates to “shadow on the water,” and the scent conjures exactly that — an afternoon dozing beneath a weeping willow on a
riverbank, roses and blackcurrant bushes growing wild nearby.
It opens with the sharp, green snap of blackcurrant buds and leaves, then softens into a dense, sensual rose at its heart, before settling
into a woody, musky base that lingers like the last light of a summer evening. Realistic rather than sweet, it reads as green and slightly
